USA,March,17-2011:Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic have all reached the quarter-finals of the BNP Paribas Open.Top seed Nadal did not have it all his own way but eventually got past Indian qualifier Somdev Devvarman 7-5 6-4 to stay on track for a third Indian Wells title. The Spaniard dropped just six games over his first two matches here but had a much sterner test against Devvarman, who acquitted himself well against the world number one after becoming the first man from his country to reach the fourth round in the tournament.Nadal will next meet Croatia’s Ivo Karlovic, who also progressed courtesy of a 7-6 (9/7) 6-2 win against Spanish 23rd seed Albert Montanes.Second seed Federer also advanced in the day’s final match, seeing off American teenager Ryan Harrison 7-6 (7/4) 6-3.Three-time Indian Wells champion Federer will face fellow Swiss Wawrinka in the last eight.Djokovic also cruised through thanks to a straight-sets win over fellow Serbian Viktor Troicki. The third seed crushed his Davis Cup team-mate 6-0 6-1, although he was made to work hard to cross the finishing line in a 16-point final game during which Troicki saved four match points and held two break points.”I don’t think I’m playing incredible tennis,” said Djokovic, who has lost just six games en route to the last eight.”I think I’m playing really, really solid and getting a lot of balls back into the court and making my opponent play an extra shot.”I think he had a very bad match in general. But I was very solid, and I keep on playing well, so this is what makes me happy.”The victory was Djokovic’s eighth in a row against his compatriot, and set up a quarter-final meeting with Richard Gasquet after the 18th-seeded Frenchman stunned eighth seed Andy Roddick 6-3 7-6 (7/5).Seventh seed Tomas Berdych suffered a similar fate to Roddick as Wawrinka posted a 3-6 6-4 6-4 victory over the Czech. There was better news for Juan Martin Del Potro, though, as he continued his climb up the rankings after an injury-plagued 2010. The Argentinian edged two tie-breaks to advance with a 7-6 (7/3) 7-6 (9/7) triumph over 32nd seed Philipp Kohlschreiber. The German became the third seed knocked out of the tournament by Del Potro, following the South American’s victories over Ivan Ljubicic and Alexandr Dolgopolov in earlier rounds.Next up for Del Potro will be a meeting with Spanish 25th seed Tommy Robredo, who breezed past 21st-seeded American Sam Querrey 6-1 6-3.
